Not all the time of course, and sadly bad things do happen to good people. However if you stick at it, the good will be repaid, even if it takes a lifetime to see it.
This weekend in particular, I find this to be true...
It can be pretty annoying, losing stuff. So it made my day today to be granted access, out of the blue, to a box of ladieswear donated to a friend of mine by his friend when she moved out of London and oversees. The gods are paying me back (and then some), since I'm the proud new owner of a replacement parka (of superior quality to the one that I sacrificed), a hoody (far more stylish than my £1 special from Deptford Market), some awesome tops, trousers and even a floor length black dress, y'know for squirrely trips to smart restaurants or the theatre (no, you're right, it doesn't happen very often - staying seated for long periods of time is a challenge for those of bushy tail).
And that's not all. At the start of the summer, I committed to 4 camping festivals, Glastonbury, SGP, Nozstock and Boomtown (the latter 3 on consecutive weekends), but I genuinely feared for my stamina. Because of this, I resisted FOMO and made no such commitments to join the rest of my feral friends at Shambala Festival, which is happening this coming weekend.
'5 camping festivals in one summer? That's alot', I thought.
But since my stamina has turned out to be considerably more impressive than I had supposed, in the last couple of weeks I have found myself on the hunt for a Shambala ticket, though the festival in fact sold out weeks ago.
Countless others have been trying to get their hands on a ticket, with no luck.
And then, on Thursday night, Bubble Butt tagged me in a comment on Facebook. A friend of his was looking to sell her ticket at face value, and I - fortuitously, or perhaps fatefully - was the first to respond.
So, Feral Beryl gets another bite at the 2014 summer cherry. I'm going to Shambala........
